Dx-cc antenna manual
Performance on the other bands was marginal at best. I have been building my own antenna since and this is my first "store bought" antenna. The manufacturer is no help when it comes to troubleshooting. They only offer advice in tuning a fan dipole. I've built a couple of fan dipoles I know how to tune 'em. Not pricey Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Many people don't understand what costs are involved in building and testing a commercial product. Design, manufacturing costs, overhead and a quality control department all add up. Very different than an individual building one of something in their garage. Just cost of parts, no overhead or quality control. It might work and it might not. I say all this because I was in manufacturing for many years before retiring and I appreciate what goes in a product.
I wouldn't try to build my own DX-CC. Too much to do and test. However, some enjoy building their own stuff and that's great. Put this dipole up and added a balun on it. Remember people, This is a balance dipole. Nothing magic about it. Its works as good as a dipole should.
Yes you need to prune this if you don't want to use a tuner but most rigs can tune within reason. A little prices, than you should be building your own. More than 12 Months. There is a delay before newly submitted reviews are Approved and posted in eHam's reviews. The delay is for new review screening and approval. The delay varies from minutes to a day or more. Before adding a new product use the "Search" tool on reviews Home page to determine if that product already exists in a category.
A valid product review is one where you have experience or knowledge of the product you would like to share with others. The reviews are not a Forum for two-way exchanges, product inquiries, general discussions, complaints, help requests, product repairs or modifications, or customer service issues. A review should provide useful relevant opinions of a product. Reviews only stating "Its great"or "Terrible product" are not helpful without supporting information why its great or terrible. If using an anonymous eHam user ID for submitting reviews be aware of a recent court ruling regarding identity disclosure of writers of false reviews.
Don't review home brewed equipment or home-brew copies of commercially made products. Reviews are limited to one review per product per reviewer. Edits will go thru the review Approval process. Do not submit a product review criticizing another review or reviewer. Review authors should be able to share their product experience and opinion without being publicly criticized. In the interest of maintaining objective product reviews for all review readers, requests to remove Approved product reviews may be declined by eHam.
Customers and product users will add your product to a product category listing and write reviews when they are ready to share their product opinion. If a manufacturer would like to announce or raise awareness for their product eHam suggests writing a brief News release and submit it to eHam's News. Click the News header on Home page then look for Add News button.
It's a conflict of interest for manufacturers or their employees to review their own products. Those reviews will be removed. Do not offer rewards for positive eHam product reviews. Offering rewards for good reviews can create bias in reviews that savvy review readers can detect.
This can detract from trust by current and potential customers. On those nights when the F-layer critical frequency hovers between m and 80m, a low dipole for m could be very useful for overnight contacts. So the best antenna strategy for including m for skip-zone contacts depends on one's needs. For daytime m operation, a vertical is often preferred, and can provide both ground-wave and E-layer skip into the skip zone. Get on the air and operate whenever possible. RTTY is also a mode that allows weaker signals to get through and be heard.
Participating in contests not only helps you to obtain your DXCC but by submitting your log, it demonstrates activity on the HF bands. This will help to ensure that our bands remain intact and will help to keep them from being taken away for commercial interests. Wait until the contest has worked itself out a bit. Sometimes I will wait until the last half of a contest period and walk through the bands.
By that time the contest stations are begging for new contacts. It gives me the opportunity to pick the stations that I know will hear me. Find out when the entity will be active and plan on working them within the last days of operation. Follow the assembly instructions to the HF Multiband Vertical Antenna 6, 10 coverage on the horizon and a low radiation angle in the vertical plane for a better DX.
I have been looking at various vertical antennas and have been considering the Gap Titan DX. Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc. But it was 3rd time for me.
